You can snag some pretty good deals on Black Friday. But, do you know what to look for so you get the most bang for your buck? If not, then this article is for you. Here are ten of the best things to buy on Black Friday.
Many people shop for TVs at this time of the year–and for good reason. Electronics are heavily discounted for Black Friday. If you are in the market for a new TV, industry experts suggest getting a 4K set. Those are the sets you’ll likely get the best deals on. Kendal Perez of Coupon Sherpa said in an article on MSN.com that “now that 4K technology is more mainstream, expect to find deep discounts on 4K TV sets.” So, just where exactly should you shop for these TVs? Perez says Best Buy will be the top destination, followed by Target and Walmart, where you’ll likely find the lowest prices on lower-tier brands like Element and Hisense.
TIP: To save even more, consider buying a “derivative” TV. They’re similar to regular production models but typically have fewer features.
9. Video Games and Consoles
Now that you’ve picked out your new TV set, the next stop is the gaming aisle. There will be plenty of deals on Xbox One and Sony Playstation 4 (PS4) consoles, as well as video games. In fact, the price of the PS4 Pro already dropped this year, so it’s likely to drop for Black Friday too, reported DealNews. If you’re in the market for a console, accessories and games, NerdWallet says that you’ll find “particularly great offers on gaming bundles” this Black Friday.
Don’t worry, we didn’t forget about all you virtual reality gamers. According to U.S. News & World Report, you could see a $50 discount on the Oculus Rift system. And, HTC will likely drop the price of its Vive VR system to compete with the Oculus Rift this Black Friday.
8. Laptops and iPads
Black Friday is the perfect time to score a good deal on computers and related devices as retailers are looking to clear out their inventory and make room for new products before the end of the year.
Here are a few of the deals you can expect to see:
-2018 Apple iPad (Gold, 32GB) for $250 (a savings of $80) | Available at Costco, Target, and Walmart.
-Samsung 11.6-inch Chromebook for $100 (a savings of $130) | Available at Best Buy.
-HP 11.6-inch Chromebook for $130 (a savings of $90) | Available at Office Depot November 22-24.
-HP Pavilion X360 with Intel Core i7 and 1TB hard drive for $450 (a savings of $350) | Available at Office Depot.
-HP Chromebook with 14-inch display and Intel Celeron CPU for $210 (a savings of $40) | Available at Staples.
Looking to upgrade your phone? Black Friday is the ideal time to do so. According to HGTV, you could possibly upgrade for half the normal cost. That’s because carriers and retailers use Black Friday sales to tempt customers into upgrading. As a result, you could see BOGO deals or gift cards worth hundreds of dollars included with purchases.
-Avoid the Apple Store and purchase your iPhone from a reseller instead.
-Look for huge Samsung Galaxy smartphone savings at Walmart. You might just get a free $350 Walmart gift card with activation of a new installment plan!
-Look for major deals at Sam’s Club, too.
6. Smart Home Assistants
If you’re looking to set up a smart home, there’s no time like the present–well, next Friday anyway. According to U.S. News & World Report, the Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Google Home and Google Home Mini were all priced at their lowest cost ever last year. With that said, here are some deals you could get this year:
-Echo Dot for $30
-Google Home Mini for $30
-Apple HomePod for $300 (a savings of $49). TIP: Be on the lookout for eBay coupons that could shave another $28 off the discounted price.
-Current-generation Echo speakers for $70 and up.
Listen to any Black Friday ad on the TV or radio, or read about Black Friday ads in newspaper inserts, and deals on appliances is one of the first things you’ll notice. Both big-ticket appliances and small kitchen appliances are good to buy at this time of year, notes Perez. “Look for savings of $150 to over $500 on refrigerators, ranges, dishwashers and more from such retailers as Sears, Home Depot, Best Buy and Lowe’s,” he said on MSN.com. And, “many doorbusters offered by Kohl’s, JCPenney, Kmart and Macy’s feature kitchen appliances for $10 or less, though a mail-in rebate is often required to get the lowest advertised deal,” he added.
But, don’t just look for deals on kitchen appliances only. You’ll find some good deals on vacuums, too, especially for Hoover, Dyson and iRobot models. Last year, Dyson upright models went for as little as $130.
Black Friday could be a good time to buy new clothing, depending on what you buy. Some industry experts say you should shop for designer clothing during this time. These items usually don’t go on sale the rest of the year, but you’ll find discounts on them for Black Friday, Sara Skirboll, a shopping and trends expert at RetailMeNot, said in an article on MSN.com. In fact, designer handbags will go for 75 percent off at Nordstrom Rack, and men’s Kenneth Cole Reaction suits will go for $100 or less this Black Friday, according to DealNews.
If you’re looking to buy winter apparel, however, you might want to hold off. Most big clearance sales on winter apparel happen right around the start of spring. That doesn’t mean you should forget about buying them altogether, though. Many retailers will be offering them at dramatic discounts to clear out overstock.
The cost of sneakers typically takes a nose dive around this time of year due to slow sales in September and October. So, Black Friday is the perfect time to snag a good deal on some new kicks. Expect sales as much as 20 to 30 percent off the full price, Katie Smith, retail analysis and insights director at EDITED, told RetailMeNot. And, according to DealNews, men’s Adidas and Converse sneakers could go for as little $22 at Foot Locker.
FYI, if you happen to be in the market for women’s boots, you can get them for around $20 at Kohl’s and Macy’s.
2. Beauty Products
Like other retailers, cosmetic stores will also be clearing out old inventory to make room for new products, especially holiday sets. Believe it or not, many of those deep discounts will be on high-end cosmetics. For example, some of Sephora’s products will sell for $15 and under. If you want to get a sneak peek at them, simply text the word “APP” to 63485 to take a look at the cosmetic store’s “Black Friday Preview.”
FYI, shoppers can also sign up via text or email for alerts about Ulta’s “Black Friday Beauty Busters.”
1. Travel Deals
How does a hotel room near the Vegas Strip for $20 sound? What about a room near Times Square for less than $100 a night? Or, a flight to Europe for as little as $100 each way? Or, a domestic flight for a little as $20 each way? No, that’s not a typo. Those are just some of the travel deals you may be able to snag on Black Friday.
Many times hotels, travel packages and car rental companies will advertise time-specific deals to get more visitors during their “need” periods–e.g. late November through mid-December and late-March through mid-April for ski resorts, and fall through mid-December for amusement parks.
TIP: Avoid booking spring travel on Black Friday. Instead, wait until after January to purchase your airline tickets.
