Everyone is trying to be the best version of themselves that they can, but sometimes life gets busy and regular self care and healthy habits are the first things to be forgotten. Everyone could stand to be healthier and more productive, so let’s jump into these 10 simple daily habits that will improve your life.
10. Drink Water
It is well known by this point that drinking water is important to maintaining your health. However, not everyone drinks the amount of water they should be. The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine has determined that women should drink about 90 oz of fluids daily and men about 125 oz. This may sound like a lot, but taking into account that about 20 percent of that comes from foods, it is totally doable. It is even easier when you trade in other beverages and stick to drinking only water when thirsty.
9. Save Money
While psychical health is very important, financial “health” should also be a priority. As a rule, you should never spend more than you make. This can be hard at times, but if you do your best, your bank account will thank you and your stress levels will too.
8. Eating Healthy
This is another no brainer. Healthy eating can seem daunting, but if you make it a daily habit, it will become easier over time. Make a meal plan, shop for groceries, and stick to the list! Eating healthier can improve your mood and also reduces stress levels. This habit can also help you save money as you’re no longer spending money at restaurants or on take-out as frequently.
Exercise is quite important for physical and mental health, especially if your job isn’t very active. Start with a few days a week and work up to every day workouts. No need to train like a bodybuilder or marathon runner, unless you want to! If going to the gym sounds terrible to you, grab a buddy and take some walks.
6. Accomplish at least one thing every day
There are days when life gets in the way and everything can seem overwhelming. If you promise yourself that you will do at least one productive thing on the tough days, no day will seem completely wasted. Read a little, do some short burst cleaning, or even change that light bulb that has been out for the past month.
5. Clean up
Cleaning at least one room or area each day can make life so much easier. By taking care of these tasks little by little, you will avoid getting overwhelmed by the chores you need to finish.
It seems like an easy enough task, but when people get overwhelmed or stressed, their personal hygiene can take a hit. Shower and get yourself ready for the day every day. This will set a positive tone.
Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends to avoid being overtired and less productive.
2. Prepare for the next day
Lay out your clothes, write a to-do list, and set your coffee maker. Once you get in the routine of doing this it will become second nature. It will also reduce panic and chaos in the mornings so you can start your day on a positive note.
Put down your phone and turn off the TV. Give your brain a rest from the constant flow of information and media. Read a book, take a walk, or cook something yummy instead!
These daily habits can seem daunting if you try to do them all at once, but making small changes little by little can make a big difference in your life. Take the time to care for yourself everyday and you’ll be happier for it.
