14. Dress-Up Clothes
Wedding gowns, prom dresses, tuxedos and other formal wear can be quite expensive. Luckily, you can get these goods for a steal at yard sales.
This is especially true if you’re looking for vintage items. You can get a great deal on children’s formal clothes, too, whether it’s a dress for communion or a suit for a wedding.
Costume jewelry is another great yard sale find. “There is real money in fake jewelry,” professional antique appraiser Dr. Lori Verderame says, according to Good Housekeeping.
13. Sports Memorabilia
Sometimes people get rid of items without knowing or realizing their worth. Such is the case with sports memorabilia. Take, for instance, Super Bowl tickets. Imagine a huge sports fan going to see their favorite team play.
The team wins big, and they end up getting the tickets framed because the event was such a memorable moment in their life. Fast forward a few years, and the sports fan is now down on his luck, looking to sell any and everything he can just to scrape up a few bucks (I know this story sounds kinda sad, but stick with me. I do have a point to make).
He takes his framed Super Bowl tickets and decides to sell them at a yard sale to another potential fan. But, what he didn’t know was that those tickets were worth up to $4,000.
Yes, you read that correctly — 4,000 big ones. According to Sports Collectors Daily, vintage Super Bowl tickets can be worth that much. Even modern tickets can score you a few hundred bucks.
Oh, and don’t forget about those baseball cards. Based on the player, the year, and the card’s condition, they can be worth millions of dollars!
